Buritis
O município de Buritis foi criado pela Lei Estadual nº 649, de 27 de dezembro de 1995, desmembrado dos municípios de Campo Novo de Rondônia e Porto Velho. A origem do povoamento da área veio de uma comunidade de agropecuária. O topônimo deriva de uma palmeira encontradiça nas regiões de cerrado.

O município de Buritis foi criado pela Lei Estadual nº 649, de 27 de dezembro de 1995, desmembrado dos municípios de Campo Novo de Rondônia e Porto Velho. A origem do povoamento da área veio de uma comunidade de agropecuária. O topônimo deriva de uma palmeira encontradiça nas regiões de cerrado.
Buritis tem uma população estimada de 38.450 habitantes, área de 3.265,809 km2 e densidade demográfica de 9,92 hab/km2. O município está localizado nas coordenadas geográficas de 10°12’45” de Latitude Sul, 63°49’46” de Longitude Oeste e 158 metros de altitude, inserido na Mesorregião Madeira-Guaporé.
A evolução político-administrativa alinha-se às características inerentes de cada município.
